14 new virus cases, ten people recover

Fourteen new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases – six men and eight women – were recorded on Wednesday, May 5.

They were identified from the 733 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory. Four of the new positive cases are male clients of the Psychiatric Hospital.

Meanwhile, ten people recovered from the viral illness and were discharged. There are currently 84 people in isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases have reached 3 929 (1 896 females and 2 033 males) and 3 831 people have recovered. The island has recorded 45 COVID-19 deaths.

A total of 156 736 tests have been carried out by the public health laboratory since February 2020.

The number of people vaccinated under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 is 75,296 (first and second doses). Of these, 25 466 people have been fully vaccinated during the second phase of the programme. (BGIS)
