‘Senseless killings must stop’

The distraught mother of slain Shamar Antonio Lynch said only Jesus could be better to her than he was.

Surrounded by family in her Walkes Spring, St Thomas home yesterday, Sonia Lynch remembered a man who loved sports and his family.

Police reported that Shamar was liming at St Ann’s Road, Pinelands, St Michael, around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night when a gunman burst through a nearby gate and engaged him in a brief scuffle before opening fire.

“He used to play cricket; in fact, anything to play he would play it. Right after God’s Son, he was next. He was that good to me; only Jesus could beat him. His was a senseless killing and all these senseless killings has to stop,” said Sonia.

Shamar, 31, a painter, had six children – three girls and three boys aged one to 14 years old. (CA)
