A couple from the World Harvest Ministries International church, where there was a coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, will appear in the St Matthias Magistrates’ Court today.

Fabian John and Vanessa Maylin John of Kingsland Heights, Christ Church are charged with refusing to carry out a lawful order imposed by the Chief Medical Officer on April 26.

Police said they were at the centre of a five-hour stand-off with health officials, the Barbados Defence Force and lawmen before they were placed in quarantine at the St Lucy District Hospital.

“Their Speightstown, St Peter church has been connected to one of the northern COVID-19 clusters and at last count linked to 28 cases,” according to a statement from police. (PR)
