Work on Haynesville upgrades will resume next week, BL&P says

Barbados Light & Power (BL&P) will resume outstanding work next week on electrical upgrades to housing units in Haynesville, St. James.

This is in response to an appeal from Minister of Housing and Lands, Dr. William Duguid and Member of Parliament for St. James South, Sandra Husbands for the power company to complete installations on 84 units in the area.

“Initially, there was incomplete installation information provided by the National Housing Corporation on the outstanding units,” BL&P communications coordinator Jennifer Blackman said.

“However, this has been addressed and work on the outstanding units is scheduled for next week.”

Duguid and Husbands made the appeal during an update on the near completion of electrical upgrade work on 324 units in the area.

The two government officials said there had already been a five house fires in the area in recent times, and tenant Ryan Odle said he had suffered two house fires in the space of six months.
