Hope and Powell named in Windies provisional squad

GROS ISLET – Shai Hope and Kieran Powell were named in a West Indies provisional 17-member squad for the two-Test series against South Africa in St. Lucia.

Barbados Pride pacer Chemar Holder is unavailable because of injury and 19-year-old pacer Jayden Seales is included for the first-time.

The selectors have also requested Keon Harding, Preston McSween, Marquino Mindley and Niall Smith to remain in St. Lucia to assist the squad with preparations.

The squad is expected to be trimmed further to an official 13 on Monday.

The two Tests will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground for the Vivian Richards Trophy on June 10 to 14 and June 18 to 22.

These are the final matches in the current cycle of the ICC World Test Championship with both teams trying to finish higher in the final Championship table.
