Gros Islet – West Indies announced that Nkrumah Bonner has been diagnosed with a concussion and will take no further part in the first Test against South Africa in St. Lucia.

Bonner will be replaced in the Windies 11 by left-handed opener Kieran Powell for the remainder of the match.

Bonner was struck on the helmet by South African pacer Anrich Nortje, the first delivery he faced when batting during the Windies first innings.

He was treated on the field by Windies medic Denis Byam and continued batting to score 10 from 32 balls in a little over an hour before he was caught behind off pacer Kagiso Rabada.

Powell, 31, makes a return to Tests for the first time, since playing against Bangladesh almost 2 ½ years ago in Dhaka.
