Funeral service for Sir Courtney Blackman on June 18

Members of the public may pay their final respects to Sir Courtney Blackman as the body of the bank’s “founding father” reposes in the Courtney Blackman Grande Salle on Thursday, June 17, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A brief statement from the Central Bank today also said that the funeral service will be held on Friday, June 18 at 10 a.m. Attendance is by invitation only.

Sir Courtney, who was the first and longest serving Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados, died at the age of 88. He died in the United States of America where he had been living for more than 20 years.

Sir Courtney served three terms as Governor of the Bank, from 1972 to 1987. (PR)
