Gabriel, Bravo recalled to Test squad

Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel and top-order batsman Darren Bravo have been recalled to the West Indies team ahead of the second Test against South Africa which starts tomorrow at the Daren Sammy Stadium in Saint Lucia.

The left-handed Bravo is expected to replace Jamaican Nkrumah Bonner who was substituted during the first Test and is unavailable for selection due to concussion protocol.

In a press release this morning Cricket West Indies (CWI) lead selector Roger Harper said “Shannon Gabriel has been declared fully fit and as someone who was the spearhead of the attack before, he has returned to the 13-man squad. With Bravo, we have someone who is an experienced batsman and gives us a quality batting option.”

The Proteas have taken a 1-0 series lead and Harper said the Windies must show greater improvement with the bat in the upcoming match. (AGB)
