Captain Jules, goalie Primus back in training

Barbados senior national football captain Rashad Jules is back in training after suffering an ankle injury which ruled him out of the second leg of the Concacaf FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers in the Dominican Republic last month.

Jules, along with teenage midfielder Roshon “Speedy” Gittens, resumed practice at the Wildey Turf with the Tridents on Thursday ahead of the preliminary round of the Concacaf Gold Cup match against Bermuda on July 2.

The news was confirmed by head coach Russell Latapy yesterday during a telephone interview.

“It is always good when we can choose from the full roster of players. Obviously, on the last trip the skipper didn’t recover from the injury and it is good to have him back training. Like with every other player, we will assess his health and fitness level. He needs to fight and work hard and lead from the front like everyone else. The skipper is ready to go again,” Latapy said.
