A long-standing worker of the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) was this morning splashed with human faeces during a routine pickup in Rowans, St George.

Public relations officer Carl “Alff” Padmore told Nation News the worker had just tossed a bag of household garbage into the compactor and it was during the compression process that the bag burst and the faeces came out. Some also spilled onto the road.

The incident occurred just after 6 a.m.

“This is a problem that we face from time to time in Barbados and it is really concerning us now,” Padmore said.

“We are really appealing to members of the public to dispose of human faeces in the correct manner.”

He reminded the public there were “human beings working behind the trucks”.

The worker got cleaned-up and went back into the field. He was also expected to seek medical attention. (SAT)
