Barbados now has its first beach soccer club.

While the Barbados Football Association (BFA) announced plans last year to resume the national beach soccer programme, some players ran out of patience and formed their own club.

Three weeks ago, the island’s top beach players started The Bajan Sand Ballers in an effort to revive the sport in Barbados.

“Since we have been inactive, we decided to start the club for the experienced players and the youth as well so that when the senior guys get older some younger players would come in through the ranks and we would be able to have a team at the time. We have been practising now for three Sundays since we got the ok from the authorities,” assistant coach Andre Gill told NATION SPORT yesterday during a telephone interview. (AGB)
