The Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&P) said today that electricity has been safely restored to 70 per cent of customers.

“Despite this progress, there is still a long way to go.

“It’s another busy day for us at the Light & Power crews as the restoration work continues. We understand the inconvenience that loss of supply brings. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to safely restore service to all areas impacted by Hurricane Elsa,” a statement from the company said.

Managing director of BL&P Roger Blackman said yesterday that 200 poles have to be replaced, along with 45 transformers and a kilometre of wire restrung. (PR)
