UPDATE: Fatal accident on ABC Highway

A man in his 40s died at the scene of a collision on the Adams stretch of the ABC Highway earlier Saturday.

Police have not yet released the identity of the man who was the sole occupant of a car.

The accident occurred in Newton, Christ Church near the junction with Bannantyne Road. The other vehicle involved was a truck.

They were travelling in opposing directions when the collision occurred.

The truck left the carriageway and overturned, but the driver – also the sole occupant – escaped with slight injuries.

Police cordoned off the area and traffic is being diverted. Motorists should seek alternative routes.
