A grieving widow said a tearful goodbye yesterday to a husband untimely snatched from her by the cruel hand of death, in a “Love Letter”.
In the poignantly-penned farewell, Warren Mottley’s widow Shawn Mottley, flanked by their daughters Emanuelle and Laurenne, and supported by her mother-in-law Amor Lady Mottley, painted the picture of a devoted husband and father who adored family and embraced people.
She shared the story of the couple’s love affair from their meeting more than 23 years ago, through raising their two daughters, to their final moments together at his passing on June 29.
Mottley said her late husband, an attorney, became her “everything” from the day they got married in 1998 and went on to be “the most incredible father”, and that extended to also being “a people’s person”.
Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, joined by her sister Elan Mottley-Harris and brother Stewart Mottley, gave recollections of the siblings’ life while growing up together, in a mainly light-hearted tribute.
She described yesterday’s service at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Bridgetown as a celebration in gratitude to the countless people who had reached out to the family with various gestures of consolation following her brother’s unexpected passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on June 29.
