Despite the initial reluctance, it appears more Barbadians are accepting the Sinopharm vaccine.

In fact, Senior Health Sister at the Branford Taitt Polyclinic Juleyette Serrano said they were getting people saying they preferred the Chinese-made vaccine.

“For the past two weeks, the number of people coming to get vaccinated have been down in comparison to the AstraZeneca vaccine, but now we are finding some people are actually asking for Sinopharm, likely because of its reduced period between the first and second doses – four weeks compared to eight to 12 weeks for AstraZeneca – which is better for those who may be travelling soon,” she said.

Yesterday, the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation Building No 2 on Harbour Road, St Michael, was the lone operating vaccination centre and hundreds of people filled the facility. (CA)
