Refurbishment work at Queen’s Park, The City, is expected to be completed by November, says acting general manager of the National Conservation Commission (NCC), Ryan Als.
He was speaking yesterday as workers began power-washing the drained fountain.
“We are going to be doing the fountain, the pump house, the trash house, which is across by the playing field, and we are going to resurface some of the pathways. There will also be work done around the bandstand to the Clock House.
“The lawns and gardens will also be disrupted by the landscape work. So when they have to do the excavation of the area by the fountain, pedestrians will have to walk around the playing field, but that will only last for a day or two. We expect to be completed by November,” Als said.
The washroom facilities will also be worked on.
Last Saturday, the NCC issued a release informing the public about the restorative work and advised individuals to be cautious as they used the park’s facilities.
“Persons are advised to exercise caution as they traverse the park and adhere to erected signage. The NCC notes that there may be temporary closures, which may be necessary to facilitate the carrying out of work that may present potential hazards,” it said. (TG)
