Barbadian hurdler Tia-Adana Belle is hoping to be the belle of the ball when the heats of the women’s 400-metre hurdles get underway at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games tonight.
The heats commence around 8 p.m. Barbados time, which will be 9 a.m. tomorrow in Tokyo due to the 13-hour time difference.
The former Foundation and St Michael School athlete dipped under the 55.40 seconds qualifying time for the event, posting a time of 54.54 seconds at the Muller Anniversary Games in London in July 2019.
The qualifying period was originally from May 1, 2019 to April 5, 2020 and was extended to include performances from December 1, 2020 to June 29 this year, due to the Games’ postponement. (NM)
