Rain washes out fourth Windies vs Pakistan T20I

Georgetown – Wet conditions caused by persistent rain forced a no-result in the fourth Twenty20 International between West Indies and Pakistan in Guyana.

The Windies, sent in to bat, reached 30 without loss in three overs before the weather that was predicted before the start of the match at the Guyana National Stadium (GNS), interrupted play and never relented.

Andre Fletcher was not out on 17 and Chris Gayle was not out on 12 when the weather intervened shortly after the start and play was halted for close to three hours before umpires Patrick Gustard and Leslie Reifer Jr delivered the grim news.

The result meant that West Indies lost the four-match series 0-1, after Pakistan won the second T20I by seven runs this past Saturday at the GNS.

This was the third match of the series that ended in a no-result, after the first T20I last Wednesday at Kensington Oval in Barbados and the third T20I this past Sunday at the GNS ended the same way.

It will be a hard blow for the two teams because they were using this series as a final tune-up before the ICC Twenty20 World Cup coming this October in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

The two teams will change personnel and meet again for a two-Test series at Sabina Park in the Jamaica capital of Kingston, starting on August 12 and 20.

Summarised scores:

West Indies 30 without loss off three overs (Andre Fletcher 17 not out, Chris Gayle 12 not out) vs Pakistan.
