Attorney among two to appear before chief magistrate

Attorney George Adolphus Bennett and Dharma Rudradeo were jointly charged with several offences arising from the execution of a search warrant at the former’s #103, 1st Avenue, Warners Gardens, Christ Church home on July 30.

Bennett, 60, and 33-year-old Guyanese national Rudradeo were charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking and possession with intent to supply. Police say 253kgs of cannabis with an approximate value of $2 020 000 was discovered during the search.

The attorney and former lawman is facing separate charges of obstructing police officers in the execution of their duties, assaulting police officers in the execution of their duties, resisting lawful arrest, unlawful possession of ammunition exceeding the amount permitted and failing to deliver up police articles in the form of police identification card.

Both accused are expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate at the Supreme Court around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. (PR/SAT)
