Almost third of population vaccinated

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory reported nine new cases of COVID-19 – three females and six males – from 1 530 tests conducted on Friday, August 6.

There are 101 people in isolation.

Since March last year, Barbados recorded 4 464 cases of the viral illness (2 167 females and 2 297 males) and 48 deaths.

To date, 227 408 tests were carried out by the public health laboratory.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 100 392 first doses were administered, so far.  Meanwhile, 78 676 people (29 per cent of the population) received their second dose and are fully vaccinated.  (BGIS)
