The highly anticipated election of officers for the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) has been set for Thursday, August 19.

Acting deputy general secretary Richard Greene told the Sunday Sun yesterday that the National Council of the largest public sector trade union met last week and agreed on the new date.

He said no effort was being spared in the maintenance of the union’s tradition of hosting free, fair and transparent elections, noting that the NUPW administration was mindful of the controversy surrounding the top of the ticket, which was partially the subject of a recent court battle.

Additionally, there has been an allegation of election rigging made by one candidate. (CLM)
