The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located along 47W or about 1 380km (857 miles) east-northeast of Barbados at 5 a.m. today.

There are no watches or warnings in effect.

“Overnight satellite imagery has shown some organisation of the system with the development of a small area of low pressure. Gradual development of this system is possible as it moves generally west-northwest at about 20 mph.

“Current forecast tracks indicate that this system should pass north of Barbados Saturday afternoon.”

Members of the public are advised to monitor updates from the BMS on this system over the next 24 hours. The next update will be at 5 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR)
