Six new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has reported six new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), two males and four females. The facility conducted 1 595 tests on Thursday, August 12.

There are currently 104 people in isolation.

Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 4 515 cases of the viral illness (2 196 females and 2 319 males), and 48 deaths. The public health laboratory has carried out 236 090 tests.

To date, 100 917 first doses have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. Meanwhile, 84 223 people (or 31.1 per cent of the population) have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
