Windies 81-3 vs Pakistan (217) at lunch – 2nd day, 1st Test

Kingston – West Indies reached 81 for three at lunch, replying to Pakistan’s first innings total of 217, on the second day of the first Test at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

The Windies suffered a critical blow to their hopes of staying in contention when they lost Roston Chase caught behind off Hasan Ali for 21, essaying a lofted drive in the final hour before the interval.

Chase put on exactly 50 for the third wicket with little trouble with his captain Kraigg Brathwaite before his dismissal, after the Caribbean side resumed from their overnight total of two for two.

Brathwaite was not out on 35 and leading the fight for his side, and his deputy and hometown hero Jermaine Blackwood was not out on 14 at the interval.

Mohammad Abbas has been the most successful Pakistani bowler with two for 27 from 12 overs.

The Test is the first of two between the teams in the Jamaica capital and it is being played behind closed doors because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It also marks the start of the new round of the ICC World Test Championship for the teams.
