If given approval, residents of the Deacons, St Michael community could have access to additional lands to expand their farming programme.

That is the hope of Member of Parliament for St Michael North West Neil Rowe who said the project, now on an acre of land, had outgrown its Rosemont, Black Rock plot.

He is hopeful they will receive permission to farm on land at the nearby Psychiatric Hospital.

“We are outgrowing the space for this agricultural project, so we are looking to acquire some land situated at the back of the Psychiatric Hospital. Discussions are ongoing between the Minister of Health and myself [with] regard to being able to utilise the land. If that materialises . . . , then we would be looking to expand this project,” he said. (TG)
