The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) said today that repairs are ongoing to replace an 8-inch main in Date Tree Hill, St Peter, which was damaged as a result of work being conducted on a bridge in the area.

BWA said a section of the main “was damaged beyond repair some days ago, and crews from the Ministry of Transport Works and Water Resources (MTWW) and the BWA are working to resolve the issue”.

“While the recent inclement weather delayed the progress of the work, the emergency repairs continue. The Authority was forced to stop pumping from one of its facilities in the north in order to facilitate the repairs. As a result, customers in some St Peter and St Lucy districts will continue to experience low pressure or water outages until the work is completed,” a statement from BWA said.

BWA will continue to assist residents via water tanker. (PR)
