Verla De Peiza was once again given the nod to lead the Democratic Labour Party, dismissing the challenge from Rev. Guy Hewitt for the post of president.

Attempts to reach former general secretary Damien Griffith for official numbers were futile, but Nation Online understands the margin of victory was more than 200 votes.

Members voted on Friday and Saturday for the executive.

In addition to De Peiza, former Minister Steve Blackett, Andre Worrell, Ryan Walters and Reverend David Durant were elected vice presidents.

Derek Alleyne takes over as General Secretary and the treasurer is Jeff Shepherd.

On Saturday, Hewitt expressed concern about the transparency of the electoral process, but returning officer Ricardo Harrison said he was happy all was above board. (Nation Online)
