The Barbados Football Association (BFA) has submitted a proposal to health authorities outlining its plans to restart football competition locally in a safe manner despite the coronavirus pandemic.

General secretary of the local governing body, Edwyn Wood, told NATION SPORT BFA officials are awaiting correspondence from the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit, after sending a letter stating their on-field intentions for the sport.

He said the document includes social distancing and hand sanitising measures mandated by FIFA with set procedures for if Barbados was hosting an international match.

“We wrote the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit for permission to play competition and we have not had a response as yet,” he said in a recent telephone interview.
