Abrahams laid wreath at Sir Lester’s funeral

Minister of Home Affairs, Information and Public Affairs, Wilfred Abrahams, attended the state funeral for former Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Sir Lester Bird, on Thursday, August 26.

During the state funeral, held at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Abrahams laid a wreath and paid his respects on the passing of the twin-island state’s second prime minister and National Hero.

Sir Lester was Prime Minister from 1994 to 2004.  He also served as the first chairman of the Organisation of the Eastern Caribbean States.

Sir Lester, who passed away on August 9, at the age of 83, was laid to rest in the St John’s Public Cemetery. (BGIS)
