Despite the spike in COVID-19 cases, Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic is appealing to people not to rush to the testing centres.
He said the time had come for testing to be regulated to avoid the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory being “overwhelmed”, which could see delays in the results of those people already in quarantine.
Bostic was speaking in the House of Assembly yesterday on a $47 730 276 money resolution, some of which “is required to operationalise and run four Government tertiary isolation facilities, facilitate the payment of additional staff”, purchase supplies and equipment including an oxygen plant, and a vehicle all related to the surge of COVID-19 cases.
The minister said that with more cases in businesses, an increasing number of workers were coming forward to be tested, as was the case in the first quarter of the year after a surge then. (GBM)
