Bajans ‘have power to change prices’

Barbadian consumers have been told that they should stand up for their rights as they have the power to bring about price changes.

This advice has come from chairman of the Fair Trading Commission (FTC), Tammy Bryan.

“We as consumers have a lot more power than we think and seem not to appreciate it,” she said, adding that when people felt a particular entity had inflated its prices and the products could be found cheaper elsewhere, they could use social media platforms to highlight the comparisons and take action.

Several people have been using the call-in programmes to cry out about the high cost of living in Barbados and appealing to Government to take action.

One female caller to Starcom Network’s Brass Tacks radio programme lamented last week: “COVID killing we, the prices killing we and nuhbody ain’t helping we at all.” (JB)
