Ellis’ pick called into question

THE MIA AMOR MOTTLEY ADMINISTRATION is being accused of trying to neutralise independent voices in Barbados.

President of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP), Verla De Peiza believes that is what has been done in the case of veteran broadcast journalist David Ellis being hired to be Government’s face in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, the DLP is making it clear it was not consulted on the naming of Government’s newest consultant.

On Monday, Mottley named Ellis, the retired Station Manager of Starcom Network and a popular moderator on the Down To Brass Tacks radio call-in programme, as the country’s COVID-19 Public Advisor. (BA)
