Tropical wave to bring heat and rain

It is going to get even hotter from Saturday afternoon and into Monday and there may be showers across some western areas.

The Barbados Meteorological Service today issued the final warning on a tropical wave in the Atlantic.

The area of low pressure was located near 15N 51W, about 920 km (570 miles) east northeast of Barbados at 11 a.m.

Environmental conditions around the system improved over the last 24 hours and this resulted in better organisation. However, development is still expected to be slow over the next 24 to 48 hours as it moves west-northwestward at about 15 mph.

Model guidance has been persistent in indicating that the wave will pass well north of Barbados sometime early next week so it does not pose any direct threat to the island.

However, expect winds across Barbados to fall from Saturday afternoon into Monday, resulting in very warm conditions outside. This may be followed by afternoon downpours in some western districts. (PR/SAT)
