104 new virus cases, 866 people in isolation

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has identified 104 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), comprising 38 males and 66 females. The facility conducted 1 430 tests on Sunday, September 19.

Of these new cases, 23 people are under 18 years, and the remaining 81 are 18 and older.

There are now 866 patients in isolation.

A 50-year-old St Lucian woman, who resided in Barbados, died on Sunday, September 20. She was unvaccinated. Her death brings to 59, the number of people who have lost their lives to the virus.

Barbados has recorded 6 631 cases of COVID-19 (3 299 males and 3 332 females) since March 2020. The public health laboratory has performed 296 894 tests.

A total of 126 623 first doses have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, 97 818 people (36.1 per cent of the population) are fully vaccinated having received their second dose. (BGIS)
