Reigning champion jockey Rasheed Hughes piloted People’s Champ to a memorable victory in the feature race of the Barbados Midsummer Creole Classic and BTBA Breeders Sprint Raceday at the Garrison Savannah this evening.
Trailing the front for the majority of the race, race favourite People’s Champ strode to victory in 1 minute and 53 seconds ahead of Rachel in second and Dashing Star in third.
The Barbados Midsummer Creole Classic is the second jewel in the Barbados Triple Crown, which includes the Barbados Guineas and the Barbados Derby.
Hughes and People’s Champ were also victorious in the Barbados Guineas in August.
