188 new virus cases, 1 062 people in isolation

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory has identified 188 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, comprising 91 males and 97 females. A total 1 746 tests were conducted on Sunday, September 26.

Of these new cases, 53 are in the 18 and under age category, and the other 135 are 18 years and older.

There are 1 062 people in isolation.

One death was recorded yesterday, that of a 47-year-old woman who was unvaccinated.

Barbados has recorded 7 764 confirmed cases of the viral illness (3 827 males and 3 937 females) and 68 deaths, since March 2020. The public health laboratory has performed 310 586 tests.

A total of 132 681 first doses have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, 102 267 people (37.7 per cent of the population) have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
