The flash-flood warning for Barbados has now been extended to eastern and central parishes.

An earlier warning was limited to northern and northwestern areas.

The new alert will be in effect from 1 p.m. today, says the Barbados Meteorological Services, and will be terminated at 6 p.m., or sooner if conditions warrant.

A flash-flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time – generally less than sixth ours – is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.

Maximum rainfall accumulations of 50 to 100mm in heavy showers across the northern, eastern and central districts. (PR/SAT)
