New COVID cases back over 300

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 382 new COVID-19 cases, 189 males and 193 females, on Monday, October 18 from 2 711 tests.

The new positives comprise 92 people who are under the age of 18, and 290 who are 18 years and older.

There are 617 people in isolation facilities, and 3 283 in home isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded since March last year stand at 13 553 (6 528 males and 7 025 females).  As of October 18, 120 lives were lost to the virus.

The public health laboratory carried out 362 204 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 145 648 people or 63.8 per cent of the eligible population received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 117 900, 43.5 per cent of the total population or 51.6 per cent of the eligible population, those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
