Almost 400 new COVID cases on Wednesday

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 392 new COVID-19 cases, 209 males and 183 females, on Wednesday, October 20 from 2 830 tests.

The new positives comprise 68 people who are under the age of 18, and 324 who are 18 years and older.

There are 617 people in isolation facilities, and 3 666 in home isolation.

Since March last year, confirmed COVID-19 cases stand at 14 326 (6 907 males and 7 419 females). To date, 124 lives were lost to the virus.

The public health laboratory carried out 367 365 tests since February 2020.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 146 106 or 64 per cent of the eligible population had at least one dose.  The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 119 195, 44 per cent of the total population or 52.2 per cent of the eligible population, meaning those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
