Member of Parliament for St Michael North, Ronald Toppin, has officially passed the baton to branch president Davidson Ishmael.

He made the announcement last night during a branch meeting at Grazettes Primary School, which was also streamed live.

“There comes a time when the same inner calling that pulled you into politics tells you that perhaps now it is time to pass the baton. I must say that after 27 years, I am starting to feel that pull that I need to pass the baton. It is not easy, but I will not be contesting the next General Election,” he told party faithful.

The 63-year-old, who was involved in constituency politics for over three decades, and is in his sixth consecutive term, said he would not have passed the baton unless he felt comfortable. He made it clear his decision was not made as a result of any in-fighting, adding his support will always be for the BLP. (RA)
