Champion jockey Rasheed Hughes added another honour to his illustrious trophy cabinet with the capture of the 82nd Barbados Derby and the Barbados Triple Crown.

Hughes and People’s Champ, who had already triumphed in the Barbados Guineas and the MidSummer Creole Classic earlier this year, galloped to the finish line in comfortable fashion after obliterating the rest of the field with 200 metres still to go.

In so doing, trainer Andrew Nunes became the seventh Barbadian trainer to claim the coveted Triple Crown. (NM)
