238 new cases and 8 deaths on Saturday

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1 503 tests and reported 238 new COVID-19 cases – 111 females and 127 males – on Saturday, November 6.

The new positives comprised 45 people who were under the age of 18, and 193 who were 18 years and older.

There were 928 individuals in isolation facilities, and 6 513 in home isolation.

Eight deaths were recorded on Saturday. There were two females, aged 76 and 89, who were partially vaccinated and unvaccinated, respectively. They both died at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Facility.

Of the six males, there were a 54-year-old, two 62-year-olds, one aged 67, and the other two were 91 years old. One male was fully vaccinated, another partially vaccinated and the other four were unvaccinated.

As of November 6, 180 lives were lost to COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 150 271 (65.8 per cent of the eligible population). The number of fully vaccinated is 129 689 (47.9 per cent of the total population or 56.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those persons who are 12 years and older.

The public health laboratory carried out 401 721 tests since February 2020, and recorded 20 069 cases (9 701 males and 10 368 females) of the viral illness. (BGIS)
