284 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified a total of 284 people, 130 males and 154 females, as positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) on Thursday, November 11. The facility conducted 1 659 tests.

Of the new cases, 56 people were under the age of 18, and 228 were 18 years and older.

There were 962 people in isolation facilities, and 6 803 in home isolation.

Two deaths were reported on Thursday – two Barbadian males, who were both unvaccinated. One of the men, aged 79, died at the Harrison’s Point facility, while the other male, who was 86 years old, died at the Blackman and Gollop facility. As at November 11, 191 lives have been lost to the virus.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 151 323 (66.3 per cent of the eligible population). The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 131 630 (48.6 per cent of the total population or 57.6 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older.

The public health laboratory has carried out 410 786 tests since February last year and recorded 21 595 cases (10 398 males and 11 197 females) of COVID-19. (MHW/BGIS)
