Coach, captain after strong Test finish

COLOMBO – Head coach Phil Simmons and captain Kraigg Brathwaite are hoping the West Indies can finish the year on a winning note despite a difficult away assignment with the two-Test cricket series against Sri Lanka starting later this month.

“We want to get back to winning ways and especially winning away which we did at the start of the year. It would be nice to finish the year the way we started it,” Simmons said.

The West Indies, without many first-choice Test players, defeated hosts Bangladesh 2-0 in February with Brathwaite standing in as captain for Jason Holder.

Brathwaite, who replaced Holder as full-time skipper after that successful series, said the players are eager to get back on the pitch. (EZS/CMC)
