While only a small crowd attended due to restrictions in place as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony was no less spectacular.
Military and police personnel honoured the fallen soldiers of wars past with a gun salute at 8 a.m. exactly as the Parliament clock chimed, followed by a minute of silence.
Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, who is set to soon become Barbados’ first president, placed the wreath during a drizzle, as if the sky itself mourned the dead.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and other officials. (CA)
