The prosecution is asking for a life sentence for Andre Omar Jackman, Kaeron Sylvian Moore and Shane Hakeem Omar Babb, saying that vigilante justice will not be tolerated in Barbados.

That was the submission of Senior Crown Counsel Neville Watson yesterday, as the sentencing process continued in the No. 3 Supreme Court before Justice Carlisle Greaves.

“There is no room in this country for vigilante justice, and I thought I would say that in passing . . . . I find no discernible mitigating factors personal to the now convicted men. Taking into account the serious aggravating factors relating to the offences, it is submitted that the circumstances are such as to justify a term of imprisonment for life.

“It is my submission that the life imprisonment would reflect the seriousness of the offence and maintain public confidence in the judicial system of Barbados to dispense sentences commensurate with the gravity of crimes in question,” he told the court. (RA)
