One of Barbados’ leading mutual fund managers thinks the country’s economic prospects are “a lot better” than they have been at any time since COVID-19 reached here in March last year.

Roger Cave, investment director of Fortress Fund Managers, said he was also witnessing “solid” investor confidence among Barbadians.

Cave gave his assessment yesterday as his company, which has more than 10 000 investors, reported some of the best returns in its 25-year history during the financial year ended September 30.

“I think that we are starting to recover and to grow again. I think the outlook for the upcoming tourist season, which begins officially December 15, [is positive]. Already we are seeing some cruise ships arrive and increased arrivals for long-stay visitors, which is absolutely needed,” he said during the latest Lunch And Learn media briefing hosted by Fortress.
