Combermerians pay tribute to former principal

Long lines of well-wishers were at Combermere School yesterday paying tribute to late former principal Charles Pilgrim.

He passed away on November 20 at age 91 after a sudden illness. His passing prompted tributes online from those who remembered his time at the school.

Yesterday, one of his sons, Queen’s Counsel and actor Andrew Pilgrim, said he was moved by the turnout.

“I know Combermere was my father and my father was Combermere and Combermerians have been giving me stories non-stop. I am so grateful to them, it was the old scholars who organised this viewing, we just had to get the funeral home to agree,” he said.
