He is an asset to society and someone who adds value to the lives of those around him.

And it is for that reason, said Shawayne Shamal Lamar Shorey, that he should be given a chance for a gun offence he committed seven years ago.

“I am doing well. I am working. I am an asset to society and I add value to my life and to those around me. I just want an opportunity to continue to grow,” he said.

Shorey, 21, of 2nd Avenue Richmond’s, St Michael, was back in the No. 4 Supreme Court after he had previously admitted to carrying a signal flare launcher – a firearm – on August 17, 2014.

“I’m very sorry. I meant no harm to anyone. I am on the right path and I would like you to give me a chance,” he said. (HLE)
