One of the godfathers of Barbados and Caribbean football, Lisle Austin, died on Sunday.

The veteran administrator, a former president of the Barbados Football Association (BFA) and long-standing senior vice-president of the Confederation of North, Central America, and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf), was 85 years old.

BFA president Randy Harris said the death of Austin was a great loss to the sport in Barbados and the Caribbean.

Harris told NATIONSPORT. “I was his general secretary at one period, and he was someone I knew [who] had a passion for football and had his heart in the game. (EZS)
